Sanjeevani Yoga

OFF THE MAT

MACMILLAN - JERSEY

In 2019 Manju successfully completed The Camino Francés or French Way walking just under 800km from St. Jean-Pied-du-Port in France all the way across Spain to Santiago. Through the kind sponsorship of his students he raised £6,000 for Macmillan where for many years Sanjeevani Yoga had taught free yoga classes for people accessing their services. This is what he wrote about it on the Macmillan website before he set off:

“Around 6 years ago, maybe more, before I went to bed I watched a film about a walk called The Camino de Santiago. When I woke up the next morning my wife asked me if I was ok because I had kept her awake moving my legs very fast all through the night and she thought maybe I had trapped a nerve. I told her that I had been dreaming that I was walking The Camino de Santiago and that one day I would definitely do it for real. Since then I have thought about that walk a lot so this year for my 50th birthday I am taking some time out and doing it. Because this year Jersey will have been my permanent home for 10 years I want to give something back to the local community. A small way I can do this is to ask for sponsorship for Macmillan Jersey because I know from teaching yoga at Macmillan that this journey is a small challenge compared to the many challenges the people that Macmillan supports face. I am sure that there will be days when I will really struggle on this walk and it is on those days in particular that I will remember all my Macmillan yoga students and those thoughts will inspire me to continue.”

Above is a short video he made the day he completed the walk.
